Founded on a partnership of craft and business acumen, Rosewood Homes has grown into one of central Scotland's most trusted social housing builders — without ever losing the personal touch.
Rosewood Homes was founded through the coming together of two complementary strengths: Luigi Lauder's deep expertise in building and construction, and Hugh Stewart's sharp business acumen and financial vision. That founding partnership set the tone for everything Rosewood has become.
Today, the business continues to be led by the family — with Hugh's son John Stewart and Lou Lauder at the helm, bringing the next generation's energy and ambition to a company with four decades of hard-won experience behind it.
Rosewood is part of the Coralinn LLP portfolio of companies — a leading Scottish Private Equity and Investment House based in Livingston — which provides the financial backing and strategic support to take on ambitious projects and deliver them with confidence.
Two complementary partners unite — Luigi's construction expertise with Hugh's business vision — laying the foundations for a family builder built to last.
Rosewood builds a reputation for quality delivery across private and public sector projects, developing strong relationships with Housing Associations and local authorities.
A landmark partnership with Clyde Valley Housing Association delivers 25 affordable homes ahead of schedule on the site of the former Carluke Rovers stadium.
The founding families' sons take the business forward — same values, same commitment to quality, with fresh ambition to grow Rosewood's social housing partnerships.
Our team is small enough that every project gets personal attention from our leadership — and experienced enough that nothing fazes us. We employ our own time-served tradespeople, work with a consistent core supply chain, and keep the same people on every project from start to finish.
Son of co-founder Hugh Stewart, John leads Rosewood's business development and partnership strategy. He brings a sharp commercial mind and a genuine commitment to the communities Rosewood builds in.
Lou holds an NVQ Diploma Level 6 in Construction Engineering and has over 30 years' experience in housebuilding. He leads and directs the site team on every Rosewood development, and is the main point of contact for all builds across the public and private sectors.
A time-served tradesman holding an SMSTS NVQ Level 4 in Site Supervision, Keith has been involved in several of Rosewood's key social housing developments and ensures every site runs safely, efficiently, and to specification.
Our experience spans new-build affordable housing, sensitive restoration of listed buildings, and brownfield regeneration — all delivered with the same commitment to quality and community.
Affordable homes built for Housing Associations and local authorities — from cottage flats to detached family homes. Energy-efficient by design, built to last, and always compliant with current Scottish Building Standards.
We specialise in sensitively converting listed and historic buildings into modern social and private housing — preserving the character that communities cherish while creating homes fit for the future.
Challenging sites are our speciality. Our local planning knowledge and experienced team allow us to develop sites that others walk away from — transforming underused land into thriving new communities.
Every Rosewood project is backed by internationally recognised quality standards and industry certifications — giving our partners total confidence in the homes we deliver.
Our workforce is locally based, our supply chain is locally sourced, and our homes are designed to complement the character of the neighbourhoods they sit in. That's not a policy — it's how we've always worked.
We partner with CITB and Routes to Work to create apprenticeships and training opportunities on our sites. We work with local heritage organisations like Larkhall Heritage to preserve iconic features within our developments. And we remain actively involved in the communities we build in long after the scaffolding comes down.
